About The Fremennik Trials

The Fremennik Trials is the introductory quest to the Fremennik people of Rellekka. To be accepted as an honorary member, you must gain the votes of seven council members by completing their unique trials. These tasks include: out-drinking Manni the Reveller (with some trickery), performing for Olaf the Bard (requiring crafting or obtaining an enchanted Lyre), hunting and defeating the Draugen for Sigli the Huntsman, navigating a favour-chain for Sigmund the Merchant, solving Swensen the Navigator's portal maze, surviving combat trials for Thorvald the Warrior against Koschei the Deathless (Level unspecified forms), and solving puzzles within Peer the Seer's item-restricted house. Success earns the Fremennik title and access to the province.

How long does The Fremennik Trials take?

Around 1 to 1.5 hours. It involves completing seven distinct trials around Rellekka, including combat, crafting, puzzles, skill checks, and a favour chain.

What items are needed?

Items vary by trial: 5,252 coins total, Beer, Tinderbox, Raw shark/manta/turtle, Axe/Knife (if crafting Lyre), Potato/Onion/Cabbage (if crafting Lyre), Pet rock (for Lyre/Peer trial), Combat gear (Melee recommended, no gear allowed for Koschei), Food/Potions for Koschei/Draugen. Many items are obtained during the quest (e.g., Strange object, specific Lyre parts).

How hard is Koschei the Deathless?

You fight him weaponless/armorless. He has 4 forms. The first 3 must be defeated. The 4th hits rapidly for 1 damage (Rings of Recoil highly recommended) and drains prayer; losing to the 4th form still passes the trial (safe death for HCIM). Requires food/potions, possibly prayer.

How do I get the Lyre?

Either craft it yourself (requires 40 WC, 40 Crafting, 25 Fletching, specific items like Swaying branch, Golden fleece obtained via Rock Soup puzzle) OR kill specific level 48 Fremennik citizens (Lanzig, etc.) until one drops it (1/17 chance). It must then be enchanted by Fossegrimen using a raw shark/manta/turtle.

What is Peer the Seer's trial?

You must enter his house with NO items equipped or in inventory (he can bank them). Inside, solve puzzles involving finding items (disks, herring, jug, bucket), using them to create specific water measurements to unlock a chest, making a key, and exiting via a specific ladder.

Can Ironmen use this service?

Yes, but it has challenges. They must obtain the raw shark/manta/turtle, may need to craft the lyre (requiring skills), and provide all combat supplies. Note the strict inventory rules for Thorvald/Peer trials and Peer's bank function being disabled during the quest.
