How long does The Heart of Darkness take?

This Experienced quest takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, involving infiltration, a series of trials, dungeon exploration, puzzles, and boss fights.

What are the requirements for The Heart of Darkness?

You need 55 Mining, 48 Thieving, 48 Slayer, and 46 Agility (none boostable) to start. You must also complete Twilight's Promise and Children of the Sun.

What items are needed?

You only need 30 Coins to rent a room early on. Combat gear, food, and potentially Prayer potions are needed for the various combat encounters. A pickaxe is useful for a shortcut but one is obtainable. Empty inventory slots (up to 4) are needed at specific points.

Are the skill requirements boostable?

No, the Mining, Thieving, Slayer, and Agility requirements are explicitly stated as NOT boostable and are required to start the quest.

How difficult is the combat?

The combat includes fighting multiple Emissary Brawlers (level 74/86) and Conjurers (level 71), Prince Itzla (level 167 - requires dodging specials), and the final boss Amoxliatl (level 263). Amoxliatl uses Magic attacks and has special mechanics involving destroying ice blocks and dodging projectiles. Protect from Melee helps with the Brawlers and Itzla; Protect from Magic is crucial against Amoxliatl.

What is Tapoyauik?

It's an ancient fortress ruin beneath the Twilight Temple, introduced in this quest. Accessing it is part of the reward.

Can Ironmen use this service?

Yes. Ironmen need the required non-boostable skill levels, completion of prerequisite quests, 30 coins, and standard combat equipment/supplies.
